EXP3_Developed Model With Moving Elements and Textures

Moving Elements

The first moving element is shown below as a cable car for which I get the inspiration from Santiago Calatrava's 'Sharq Crossing' project. It is specifically designed for staff of the faculty as it would save time from getting through the passage beside the SqaureHouse and it would send staff directly to the Café for rest. During the travel, they would have a good view of the campus.

Inspiration

The second moving element is 'waterfall' around stairs in the central teaching zone. As the roof is open to the sky for sunlight, there would be downpour into the building. Therefore, the waterfall is from collected and recycled rain which is placed between the glass layers. It brings external nature into the interior.

The last one is shading device on the north façade of lecture theatre. This system consists of fabric which can be spread to allow both low and high angle sun shading as it shades both horizontally and vertically.

Textures

The textures I used is from sets of 'fluid' and 'vibration' to decorate walls, mark the circulation and emphasizes functional rooms.

EXP_Draft Model

The building has an organic and wavy form which responses to the theory of getting inspiration from nature by Santiago Calatrava. The façade is mainly glass windows for a connection between the landscape and human. However, adjustable shading devices should be considered especially for north façade in Sydney. Therefore, one moving element might be rotational brise soleil during the day. Another moving element is to connect separated zones to avoid influence on the existing building thus could be a cable car going above the Squarehouse.
